Q + A from Dr. Ben

Can you please tell me what the inspiration was behind your product range, Osmosis?

The inspiration was my realization that the industry had a flawed model of adding inflammation to the skin and failing to get adequate penetration. I felt I could do much better…

How would you describe this range?

Natural, potent, holistic, transformational.

What are the main ingredients in Osmosis products?

Retinaldehyde, phosphatidylcholine, niacinamide, 1,3 beta glucan, r-lipoic acid, l-ascorbic acid, amino acid blend, growth factors.

Have you used any new ingredients in the range?

We are changing to ascorbyl glucoside from l-ascorbic acid. The growth factors and SRGF-7 are revolutionary.

The Osmosis range has been described as ‘active’ – what does this mean?

We increase the activity of immune cells, fibroblasts and keratinocytes to name a few.

Which do you consider as the most exciting product in the range?

Toss-up between Catalyst and StemFactor.

Are the products aimed at all ages and skin types?

Yes.

You have said previously that you are not a fan of sunscreens – is there an alternative sun protection that you recommend?

Catalyst, Coated Zinc, Harmonized Water.

How do the Osmosis products work in partnership with the natural protection of the skin?

We normalize pigment rather than suppressing it, we repair the barrier, we restore hydration, we enhance the immune system, we remove built up skin debris, we increase the skin’s nutrition.

Why is the Osmosis range absorbed so well into the skin?

The liposome PC increases penetration by 600-1000%.

Why do you think skincare needs to move away from excessive exfoliation?

You cannot reverse ageing if you continue to add inflammation to the skin.

How would someone recognise which Osmosis product is best for their skin?

It is hard to make a mistake as they all work similarly. Start with the treatment serum that best matches their skin type (rosacea, acne, ageing, sensitive ageing), then add Catalyst and StemFactor when possible…easy as pie.

How have the Osmosis products built on your first skincare line, Cosmedix?

Better retinol, better penetration, less irritation, more fibroblast stimulation, more focus on increasing skin nutrition, less exfoliation, better hydration, better sun protection…..as a starter.

What kinds of results are people likely to see after using Osmosis products?

Their skin should start to rejuvenate with actual reversal of ageing over months and years. Maybe 10%/yr plus all they should see all the imperfections disappear over time.

How long before people will start to see results?

Should be within the first few weeks.

Your products focus on the dermis – why is this important for restoring skin health?

The dermis is the cause of our wrinkles and sagging and the main part of the skin affected with ageing. We fix the epidermis too!

What is the most important change someone could make in their skincare routine to protect the skin from external damage?

Internal (cellular/DNA) and external (healthy barrier) sun protection

Which of the products do you use yourself?

Currently Calm, Catalyst, StemFactor, Clear

I realise that the micronised zinc is encapsulated but what is the particle size?

Around 100nm

I have tried to understand the Zinc Finger Technology but please could you explain how it actually repairs DNA?

Zinc fingers have been shown to be effective at assisting in the repair process of DNA. That is discussed in research around the world. These zinc-peptides are carriers and providers of components that allow for the repair of DNA. Being a fairly new science, we have relied on the theory because we see DNA-repair effects like SPF 14 which happens because Catalyst is actively repairing DNA while we are in the sun, there is no other plausible explanation. Skin tags are believed to be a virus by many and that means the virus has incorporated itself into the DNA, Catalyst treats that. AK's are well know to be DNA damages cells, Catalyst treats them remarkably well.

The SRGF - by what means does it repigment vitiligo and repair facial capillaries and poikiloderma?

You have to use a therapeutic dose of 7 drops to the neck only. We have had modest re-pigmentation of vitiligo in a few cases and it is not cost effective at this stage for large areas. Facial capillaries do respond most of the time from the reports I am getting. SRGF-7 is my trademarked name for the zinc finger combination we are using.

In Catalyst with SRGF-7 - what does the phenylalnine do?

I believe phenylalanine is utilized in almost every skin condition.

Liposomal delivery is NOT in which products?

Shelter, Cleansers, Polish...anything that does not have PC listed on the label.

What are the expiry dates on most products?

18 months is the upper limit, mostly because ALL products, in general, lose efficacy with aging and we want you to have the most active products you can.

What is the difference between Catalyst with SRGF -7 and Catlayst + with SGRF -7?

Catalyst + does not exist yet we are currently in the process of formulating this product. I am adding liposome and many more amino acids.

Please explain what ingredients are in Clear and how each work.

This requires a lengthy response but I will give you my edited version. First let me say that I completely understand the skepticism, I had it as well. After years of amazing results with this technology, there is no denying that it works. We are imprinting radio-frequencies onto the molecules of water. Every cell and component in your body is made up of frequencies. We are mimicking the frequencies of certain growth factors along with oxygen and other elements and mineral frequencies.  I know it sounds preposterous but it is going to revolutionize medicine soon. We have been able to calculate the frequencies of any substance in nature. I am almost done with a (hopefully) SPF 30 Harmonized Water formula (you drink it!) and we have many amazing formulas that you should try if you are having trouble believing this is possible.

In refresh does the MDI complex inhibit breakdown of elastin and collagen along with protecting the extra cellular matrix?

Yes, plus it does the following:

• Increase skin resistance

• Reduce the appearance of facial spider veins

• Reduce the appearance of leg varicose veins

• Protect against induced skin irritation

• Reduce the appearance of dark circles around the eyes

• Reduce the appearance of rosacea.

What are the exact differences between the MD range of skincare and the salon range.

The treatment serums are about 10% stronger with adjustments to retinaldehyde and liposome actives.
